Fun Fly September 16th 2016 at Bridge Field

DSCN7834 DSCN7833Another good Fun Fly at Bridge Field,!  Members enjoyed the Pylon event with Okey Stik models with an entry of 6 in the round 1, followed later by a reduced round 2, and the last man down competition – a great fun affair but an obvious need for practise to enable landing on the strip!

Video from the day to follow at club meeting!

Countisbury – Soaring day out August 13th 2016

As we travelled to Lynmouth we passed through lots of rain. Approaching the coast the edge of the this weather front was visible and passed just as we arrived and changed to the spectacular day in the pictures.

The scenery around Lynton and Lymouth is just spectacular, and the views from Countisbury Hill are breathtaking.

A club contingent of four arrived at the site around noon, the weather was superb a 10 – 15 MPH wind, just perfect!

Lakeside Annual Fun Fly 2016

The club once again hosted this fun fly to assist Lakeside Care Home raise funds. This year it was in aid of McMillan Cancer Support.

Sadly massive traffic jams on the A30 led to a poor turn out of pilots. Some spent 3 hours travelling the short distance of 20 miles from Exeter.

Those pilots attending put in some great flying with some beautiful models. Our thanks again go to those visiting pilots for taking the trouble to come and especially to Felix Marten for organising the event. Felix recently underwent surgery and was unable to attend on the day. We all wish him well for a speedy recovery.

Some are some photographs taken by Adam and Peter on the day;

July Club Fun Fly

We were blessed with the weather again for the fun fly on Sunday 17th July. Absolutely stunning day and a good attendance. We welcomed some of the newer members who had an opportunity of meeting others they had not met.

We had our second Oke Stik pylon racing event and this time there were only 2 crash outs. So we are getting better (except the author). Gary Bridgewater is the proud winner of the new monthly trophy for the Champion Oke Stik pylon racer.

Well done Gary. There are some competitive club mates coming to take it off you next month mate.

Another round of the Last Man Down glider competition was also held. Once again Dave Allin dominated with his new dream machine with a time of 10 minutes off a 30 second motor run. I hear rumours that some members are plotting to get equipment to match yours Dave 🙂

It was a great day with some real laughs and companionship. The members who were unable to attend are missing out on a great event.

See you at the patch.

Club Fun Fly – Bridge Field May 15th 2016

Club Fun Fly – Bridge Field May 15th 2016

This was a wonderful club meet! The weather was kind, ten members and children came along and enjoyed a super afternoon of  varied flying.

Mike did a great job buddying the children with “Mini Mags” spending lots of valuable instruction time with them.

The “Pylon Racing” managed one round with several involuntary early landings!

Rob , continues to do a great job as chairman, and preparing the new strip – a rota will be set up shortly to assist with the mowing.

April Club Fun Fly

Several of us went out to Bridge Field for the first fun fly of the year. It was chilly and a bit gusty in the morning but the cloud cleared later and it was pleasant in the sunshine.

Spent an hour or so warming up with the Oke Stiks before the serious matter of racing started. We set up a triangular course of 3oom and a group decision was to race together. Michael, Gary and Rob set off on the first run. It was a bit crazy as we were cutting corners and having to go back around again. The lead changed hands a couple of times but Michael came out the winner in all 3 races. Gary and Rob were each runners up in the others. We were amazed at lap times of less than 20 seconds.

It was a great experience to be part of and touch and go with the models seemingly feet apart at times. We were all more at home at anti-clockwise racing and battled at one attempt at clockwise.

Michael brought out a foamy trainer and buddy system. Little Orlando had his first lessons on this set up and was so excited. We had a great day.

Thanks to all of you that made the day.
