As most of you know Andrew and I are in the process of building a Bigger Stik 2m wing span  for the purpose of aerotow. Some progress pictures.

Some more progress; U/C now fitted and final fitting of the wing before they are sprayed.

Model now covered/sprayed and being balanced. Andrew and I are both really chuffed with the result. Had the engine running and happy with the performance so we are nearly ready for a test flight.

14th May 2018

After a long wait for the right conditions the day finally arrived. Took a picture before the test flight in case it didn’t come back in the same condition. It did and we learned a lot about mods that need to be made.

Shed Fence

New Shed Fence
Shaun and his flock have been repeatedly visiting the club shed and using it as a wholesale scratching post! This has resulted in damage to the shed, and an extremely mucky approach and surrounds by the continuing hoof traffic.
After discussion it was decided to act quickly in order to prevent further damage.
Posts, gate and sundries were collected from Mole Avon, and after begging Chris Guy for some off cuts of fencing wire, one of Chris Guy’s Brooklyn yard tenants “Pedrick” (Chris didn’t know his christian name) gave the club about a half roll of 3′ high sheep fencing.
Many thanks to Gary and Simon for erecting the fence – permanent gate latch yet to be completed!

September Fun Fly

The September Fun Fly took place September 17th, it was good weather following a week of rain. The Strip was cut and sound underfoot, top of the field along the hedge line – soggy!

The Oke Stik Pylon Race failed to materialise for want of “Stiks”, but the “Last Man Down” competition went ahead, and the after a best of three flights marshalled by Felix, Simon emerged the winner with successful strip landings!

New Lawn tractor and shed

After all  the planning, this week saw teams, led by committee members, construct a new shed and fell some trees that were obstructing the main runway.

On Friday afternoon we took delivery of our new Lawn Tractor financed through a grant from Okehampton United Charities (OUC). Without this grant none of this would have been possible for a small club of our size. We are very grateful for their generosity.

The pictures below show the results.  Well done to all those members who made a great contribution to the club’s facilities.
